At Grandbois, we not only cultivate organically, but also regenerative viticulture. We are strict EU-certified organic, but our approach goes even further:
Specialist for steep slopes: 95 % of our vineyards are classified as steep slopes. This means a lot of manual work to ensure the best grape selection and minimal soil compaction.
Soil health and carbon sequestration: We value long-term soil resilience. By promoting natural cover crops and local biodiversity, we transform our vineyards into carbon-reducing ecosystems.
Minimal footprint: We work in harmony with the rhythms of nature and avoid synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers in order to protect the sensitive ecosystem of the Moselle.
We believe that wine is a living product. Our cellar philosophy is based on minimalist oenology and the „Natural Wine“ (Vin Naturel) movement:
Spontaneous fermentation: Every Grandbois wine is fermented with indigenous wild yeasts. No commercial additives, no enzymes and no industrial abbreviations.
Prolonged contact with the yeast: We regularly batonnage to achieve a natural texture and creamy complexity without the need for filtering.
Oak wood management: We use a selected blend of neutral and new oak barrels so that the fruit and the mineral-rich terroir of the Moselle can determine the sensory profile.
Patience as a process: Our wines only come onto the market when they have reached their peak. Bottle ageing takes between one month and two years to ensure a perfect balance on delivery.
Our labels - from the Anti-fascist orange up to our Pet-Nats - are more than just branding, they are a manifesto.
Labels designed by artists: We design all labels ourselves to reflect the „socio-political” soul of the wine. We use the outside of the bottle to be part of the story.
Vegan friendly: All Grandbois wines are 100 % vegan and are produced without animal fining agents.
